MAP Protocol/Butter Network Cross-Chain Bridge Exploited, About $110K in Gains Reported

Monitoring firms Blockaid and the DeFi community YAM say the MAP Protocol/Butter Network cross-chain bridge was compromised on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain (BSC). The attacker allegedly manipulated the Butter Bridge V3.1 contract to mint about 10 trillion MAPO tokens to a newly created externally owned account (EOA), around 4.8 million times the stated legitimate supply of 208 million MAPO. YAM estimates the exploiter's realized profit at roughly 52.2 ETH, or about $110,000. MAP Protocol said it is aware of the incident and is working with external security partners to investigate and contain the breach. The bridge connecting MAPO ERC-20 to the MAPO mainnet has been suspended. The team urged users not to trade MAPO ERC-20 on Uniswap for now, warning liquidity pools remain exposed during mitigation. Butter Network said it has suspended ButterSwap and is coordinating with external security partners. It stated that pending transactions will be processed once security is restored, adding that user funds are not at risk and all impacted transactions will be fully settled after recovery.
