Map Protocol/Butter Network Bridge Exploited; About $110,000 Stolen

On-chain security firm Blockaid reported an exploit targeting the Map Protocol/Butter Network cross-chain bridge on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain (BSC). The attacker allegedly manipulated the Butter Bridge V3.1 contract to mint roughly 1 quadrillion MAPO tokens to a newly created externally owned account (EOA), about 4.8 million times the stated legitimate supply of 208 million MAPO. DeFi community monitor YAM estimated the attacker's profit at around 52.2 ETH, or approximately $110,000. Map Protocol said it is investigating and working with external security partners to contain the incident. MAPO ERC20 bridging to mainnet has been suspended, and users have been advised not to trade MAPO ERC20 tokens on Uniswap.
