Bitcoin Slips Under $75,000 as 24-Hour Crypto Liquidations Near $1 Billion

Bitcoin fell to an intraday low of $74,344 in early Saturday trading before edging back to about $75,500, according to CoinDesk. The largest cryptocurrency is down 1.8% over the past 24 hours and 2.7% over the past week. The broader market moved lower as well. Ether slid 2.7% to roughly $2,059, while Solana dropped more than 3% to around $84. Bitcoin's retreat comes after it touched $80,000 last week, setting off a wider pullback across digital assets. Derivatives liquidations climbed sharply. CoinGlass data shows total crypto liquidations over the past 24 hours reached $917 million, including about $371 million tied to Bitcoin and $261 million linked to Ethereum. Long positions bore the brunt of the move, accounting for roughly $827 million of the total. Diego Martin, CEO of Yellow Capital, said geopolitical shocks are now first reflected in U.S. Treasury yields, then filter into risk appetite and ETF flows, ultimately weighing on Bitcoin prices.
