Bitcoin Whales Add 2.2% to Holdings as Short-Term Holders Exit Near $90,000

Bitcoin whales increased holdings by 2.2% in the fastest pace in four months, while short-term holders transferred approximately 31,800 BTC to exchanges at a loss, BRN research head Timothy Misir said. Wallets holding over 1,000 BTC grew as ongoing ETF outflows and reduced institutional absorption of BTC and ETH amplified deleveraging impacts, trapping Bitcoin near $90,000. The market remains highly sensitive to new data, with both rate cuts and delays viable scenarios in the final six weeks of the year, Misir said, as any fresh macro surprise could rapidly shift positioning and trigger sharp volatility in crypto markets.
