Binance Freezes Hacker Funds in Flow (FLOW) Security Incident, Urges Project Team to Release Post-Mortem Report

Binance issued an update on Dec. 31 regarding the Flow (FLOW) network security incident, stating that after a major vulnerability on Dec. 27, 2025 allowed an attacker to mint a large number of tokens, its team traced and froze the remaining funds linked to the hacker on the Binance platform to limit losses and protect Flow token holders, BlockBeats reports. The exchange said it has repeatedly reached out to the Flow project team offering support but has not received substantive communication or cooperation since the incident. Binance added that if the Flow team opts for an independent on-chain recovery plan, addresses of major centralized exchanges including Binance wallets should be excluded, as impacted users from different CEXs have already been compensated. It also urged the Flow project to release a detailed post-mortem report explaining the root cause of the breach and future preventive measures, and noted that Binance is willing to provide security assistance to help strengthen the Flow ecosystem's defenses.
