U.S. Treasury says it has seized about $1 billion in Iran-related crypto assets
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a May 30 interview with Fox Business that the United States has seized roughly $1 billion in Iran-related crypto assets. He described the action as a direct seizure that involved taking over wallets, adding that some users may still be "typing away" without realizing their wallets have already been compromised.
Bessent also said Iran's attack on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) infrastructure was a major strategic misstep, arguing it made it easier for Washington to press Gulf partners to open their banking systems to scrutiny.
