UPDATE: Iran rules out reopening Strait of Hormuz as U.S. peace plan hits turbulence
Iran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz under any temporary ceasefire arrangement, a senior Iranian official said, according to Reuters on Monday. The stance comes as Washington and Tehran have received a framework for a proposed peace plan aimed at halting intensifying hostilities. The two-step proposal calls for an immediate ceasefire, followed by a broader agreement to be finalised within 15 to 20 days. Iran also said it will not accept deadlines while reviewing the plan and accused Washington of lacking readiness for a permanent ceasefire.
