Aptos Caps APT Supply at 2.1 Billion, Cuts Staking Rewards to 2.6%

Aptos has overhauled its APT tokenomics by setting a hard cap of 2.1 billion tokens and shifting to a performance-driven issuance model that links new supply to network activity, BlockBeats reported on Feb. 19. The plan cuts staking rewards from 5.19% to 2.6%, permanently locks 210 million APT held by the foundation, increases gas fees tenfold to around $0.00014 with full burning, and introduces KPI-linked grants. Aptos is also exploring a potential buyback mechanism as part of the updated framework.
