Nomura’s Laser Digital wins OCC conditional approval for US national trust bank charter
Laser Digital, a Nomura subsidiary, received conditional approval from the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for a national trust bank charter, a first for a Japanese financial institution’s unit. The Zurich-based firm, which manages more than $250 million in assets, filed for the federal charter in January and plans to offer custody for tokenized and digital assets, cross-border payments, and collateral management without taking deposits or making loans.
