BitMine posts its biggest ETH buy of 2026, adding 111,942 ETH
BitMine added 111,942 ETH to its treasury over the past week, spending about $237 million at the time of purchase, CoinDesk reported. The company said it now holds 5,390,404 ETH, implying an asset value of roughly $11.4 billion based on the price cited in the report.
Measured against Ethereum's circulating supply, BitMine controls more than 4.4% of all ETH. The firm said it has completed about 88% of its stated plan to reach 5% of circulating ETH, a milestone Chairman Tom Lee has said the company expects to hit at some point in 2026.
Lee previously signaled a temporary slowdown in purchases to avoid reaching the 5% threshold too quickly. After ETH fell below $2,200, he said last week that BitMine views the current range as an opportunity to add to its position.
BitMine said it remains constructive on crypto markets and Ethereum's outlook, pointing to Wall Street's push toward tokenization and demand tied to agentic AI. The company said it will continue to build its ETH holdings at a steady pace.
On staking, BitMine disclosed that more than 4.7 million of its 5.39 million ETH have been staked via its industrialized platform, the Made in America Validator Network (MAVAN). At current levels, the company estimates annualized staking income of more than $276 million.
Key figures disclosed:
- New positions added last week: 111,942 ETH
- Total position size: 5,390,404 ETH
- Estimated annualized staking income: Over $276 million
BitMine also expects a potential boost in stock liquidity after its anticipated inclusion in the Russell 1000 Index next month. The benchmark tracks the 1,000 largest U.S. companies by market capitalization, and additions often lead to automatic buying by passive index funds and ETFs. Lee has said index inclusion could trigger automated demand, potentially drawing more attention to BitMine's ETH-focused treasury strategy.
Market update: At the time of the report, ETH traded around $2,078, down about 2% in the past 24 hours and more than 11% over the past month.
