Hong Kong SFC Unveils 3 Virtual Asset Measures: BTC/ETH Financing and Perpetual Contracts

Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission announced three measures to refine virtual asset oversight at Consensus 2026, Foresight News reports. The package introduces guaranteed finance, allowing brokers to lend to creditworthy clients with collateral in securities and virtual assets, initially limited to BTC and ETH. It also sets a high-level framework for licensed platforms to offer perpetual contracts to professional investors and plans to enable liquidity via affiliated market-making units. SFC's Leung Fung Yee said tokenized gold AUM reached $400 million, doubling within six months, while 11 tokenized money market funds have been authorized and Project Ensemble is piloting tokenized deposit settlement for such funds.
