Sui mainnet hit by two outages in 48 hours after v1.72 gas accounting bug

Sui's mainnet stalled twice within 48 hours after a bug tied to the v1.72 upgrade disrupted transaction processing and epoch transitions. The issue centered on a gas accounting conflict involving the new Address Balances feature, leaving validators unable to finalize user transactions until emergency fixes were applied. During the May 29 disruption, SUI traded around $0.91-$0.92, down about 7%-8%, as transfers and on-chain activity such as DeFi and NFT trading were delayed.
