Ripple teams with Mizuho, SMBC Nikko and Securitize Japan; XRP up 4.6%

On January 5, 2026, Ripple Labs said it is partnering with Mizuho Bank, SMBC Nikko, and Securitize Japan to expand XRP Ledger adoption in Japan and support startups in RWA tokenization, stablecoins, and payments. According to DefiLlama, XRPL’s TVL fell from a July peak of $120 million to $62 million, while XRP rose 4.6% in 24 hours, up 17.6% weekly.
