Circle Blacklists Zama cUSDC Contract on May 30, 2026, Freezing $12.6M USDC

On May 30, 2026, Circle added Zama's cUSDC Ethereum smart contract to its blacklist, which stopped redemptions and locked about $12.6 million in pooled USDC. The action followed a U.S. federal court temporary restraining order tied to Newton AC/DC Fund LP's civil case against Overnight Finance founder Maxim Ermilov. Zama said it will try to separate the flagged deposit ahead of a June 1, 2026 hearing so unaffected users can regain access.
