Senator Warren and Democrats press DOJ and Treasury to investigate Binance and Trump-linked crypto ties in 2026

On February 27, 2026, a group of 11 Democratic senators led by Elizabeth Warren sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urging a thorough review of Binance's compliance with its 2023 settlement. The lawmakers cited reports of $1.7 billion in Iranian-linked flows and raised concerns about President Trump's pardon of Changpeng Zhao and Binance's connections to Trump-backed World Liberty Financial. They asked the DOJ and Treasury to demonstrate that any probe of the exchange will be impartial and set a response deadline of March 13, 2026.
