Aave DAO Votes to Wind Down Deployments on Three Chains, Sets $2M Revenue Threshold
Aave DAO approved a temperature check vote on December 3 to adjust its V3 multi-chain deployment strategy, proposing to discontinue instances on zkSync, Metis, and Sony's Soneium while establishing a $2 million annual revenue floor for future deployments. The protocol's growth service provider ACI cited market demand misalignment for the three networks, which collectively generate minimal revenue — Metis produces approximately $3,000 annually, Soneium exceeds $50,000, while Ethereum mainnet generates over $142 million. Aave currently operates across at least 18 blockchains including multiple Ethereum layer-2 networks and layer-1 chains such as Aptos and Sonic.
