Ethereum Foundation's Hsiao-Wei Wang: ZK Proofs to Become Core, Native zkEVM Plan Published

Ethereum Foundation co-executive director Hsiao-Wei Wang said on Jan. 11 that Ethereum is moving toward a future where zero-knowledge cryptography becomes central to the network, with years of research converging with real-world progress, BlockBeats reports. While current upgrades focus on improving Layer 2 execution and Blob space, making zero-knowledge proofs a protocol-level feature is increasingly feasible. Wang said Ethereum researchers have published a native zkEVM plan that would let the network verify transactions by default using zero-knowledge proofs. The approach could significantly reduce the work required to secure Ethereum and enable scaling without compromising decentralization or reliability, while resilience, security, censorship resistance and neutrality remain core.
