Evan Tangeman, a 22-year-old California resident, has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for his role in a major crypto money-laundering scheme. Prosecutors said Tangeman laundered at least $3.5 million linked to a theft ring that stole about $263 million from 2023 to 2025. Authorities said the group used social engineering scams and burglaries targeting hardware wallets. Tangeman is the ninth defendant to plead guilty as the investigation expands.
