Petronet LNG tops Q1FY27 expectations on trading gains; Nomura keeps Buy with Rs 345 target
Petronet LNG reported Q1FY27 EBITDA of Rs 16.3 billion, up 20% quarter-on-quarter and 26% year-on-year, helped by trading gains. Adjusted EBITDA stood at Rs 12.6 billion, beating Nomura’s estimate by 8%, while trading and inventory gains were Rs 3 billion and Rs 1.9 billion, respectively. Profit after tax came in at Rs 11.3 billion, up 33% year-on-year. Nomura maintained its “Buy” rating with a target price of Rs 345.

Nalco, Hindalco slide up to 2.5% on August 13 as aluminum extends retreat from seven-week high
Shares of India’s National Aluminium Co. and Hindalco Industries fell as much as 2.5% on August 13, tracking a second straight day of declines in aluminum prices. Supply worries eased after a major Middle East smelter said it plans to restore output earlier than expected, and Australia’s largest aluminum smelter secured a A$2.5 billion government bailout to keep operating. Aluminum in London slipped 0.9% to $3,282.50 a ton, while copper fell 0.4% and zinc dropped 0.8%, weighing on the broader metals sector.

Tata Motors shares rise 6% after Q1 beat; Nomura lifts rating to Buy, CLSA flags over 30% upside
Tata Motors shares climbed 6% to Rs 484.6 after the company reported strong first-quarter results. Nomura upgraded the stock to Buy, while CLSA said its target price implies more than 30% upside from the prior close. The company’s Q1 EBITDA margin was about 50 basis points above consensus, and its market capitalisation stood at more than Rs 1.68 lakh crore.

MCX shares gain 1.5% after Sebi proposes letting FPIs trade physically settled non-agri commodity derivatives
India’s securities regulator has proposed allowing foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) to trade physically settled non-agricultural commodity derivatives. Following the announcement, Multi Commodity Exchange shares rose about 1.5%. JPMorgan said the change could bring incremental FPI flows and lift average daily futures and options volumes, while Jefferies estimated the related business could add 3% to 10% to MCX net profit. FPI participation in cash-settled commodity derivatives is currently around 5-6%.

On August 11, Morgan Stanley, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC and ICICI Prudential AMC bought a combined 21 lakh shares of Metropolis Healthcare in open-market trades at Rs 564 apiece from promoter entities Duru Shah Family Trust and Metz Advisory LLP, totaling Rs 118.44 crore and representing a 1.01% stake. Following the block deals, the stock fell 1.12% to close at Rs 566.25. Aditya Birla Sun Life Flexi Cap Fund already held a 1.95% stake in the company.

Bharat Forge reported Q1FY27 standalone net profit of Rs 321 crore for the quarter ended June 30, down 5% year on year and below CNBCTV18 estimates of Rs 338.5 crore. Revenue rose 11.5% to Rs 2,347 crore, while EBITDA increased 2.4% to Rs 585.6 crore with a margin of 24.95%. The company reiterated its FY27 growth outlook of 20%-25% for its Indian manufacturing business. On August 10, the stock closed 6.7% lower at Rs 2,112 after falling as much as 8% intraday.

FIIs net buy Rs 2,446.47 crore in Indian equities while DIIs net sell Rs 936.14 crore on August 4
On August 4, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) posted net purchases of Rs 2,446.47 crore in Indian equities, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) recorded net sales of Rs 936 crore. The Nifty 50 fell 0.57% and the Sensex declined 0.58% on the day. Brent crude rose 2.5% to around $85 a barrel amid uncertainty over the US-Iran conflict. FCNR-B deposits increased by $28 billion between June 5 and July 30, reflecting the impact of the Reserve Bank of India’s foreign-currency inflow initiative.

Chavda Infra proposes bonus shares and dividend, wins Rs 89.45 crore Adani Shantigram residential order
Chavda Infra Ltd said it has proposed a bonus share issue and a dividend for shareholders, subject to statutory, regulatory and shareholder approvals. Separately, the company received a Rs 89.45 crore Letter of Acceptance from ADI Shantigram Abode LLP to build the core and shell of a high-rise residential tower at Adani Shantigram Township in Ahmedabad. The project is scheduled to be completed over the next 24 months.
