U.S. Senate Banking Panel Hit With 100+ Amendments to CLARITY Crypto Market Structure Bill, Politico Reports

Ahead of the Senate Banking Committee's markup vote on the crypto market structure bill known as the CLARITY Act, committee members have filed more than 100 amendments, according to Politico. Crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett said Sen. Elizabeth Warren submitted over 40 proposals, including an amendment that would bar the Federal Reserve from issuing master accounts to crypto firms. Sen. Jack Reed also introduced language that would explicitly prohibit cryptocurrencies from being treated as legal tender, including banning the use of crypto assets to pay taxes.
