Nigel Farage takes 6.3% stake in UK bitcoin treasury firm Stack BTC chaired by Kwasi Kwarteng
Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform UK party, has taken a strategic stake of about 6.3% in Aquis-listed bitcoin treasury company Stack BTC Plc as it advances its bitcoin reserve and acquisition strategy. Stack BTC raised £260,000 from investors including Farage and Blockchain.com, issued 5.2 million new shares at £0.05 and last Friday disclosed a first purchase of 21 BTC at an average price of $71,594 per coin while Kwasi Kwarteng serves as chair.

OKX unveils Orbit in-app social network with phased rollout to narrow traders' trust gap
Crypto exchange OKX announced on Friday that it is launching Orbit, a native social networking feature inside its app with a phased beta rollout to select users. The tool lets traders share market commentary, host livestreams, run group chats and place trades while optionally revealing verified performance metrics to help address credibility concerns in trading communities. Orbit also supports cashtags such as $BTC, $ETH and $SOL so users can jump from posts directly into the trading interface.

Indiana approves HB 1042 to add crypto options to public retirement plans by July 2027
Indiana Governor Mike Braun signed House Bill 1042 into law on March 3 after the measure cleared both chambers on Feb. 25, authorizing specific state retirement and savings plans to include at least one crypto investment product via a self-directed brokerage option. The law mandates that plan administrators provide access to crypto-linked offerings by July 1, 2027, while also prohibiting special state and local taxes or fees on lawful crypto payments and self-custodied assets.

Bank of Japan to trial blockchain-based reserve settlement and expand CBDC pilot, says Ueda
Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda said in a Tuesday speech at the FIN/SUM conference in Tokyo that the central bank will use a sandbox to test how its reserve deposits could function on blockchain-based systems. He added that the BOJ will work with external experts on use cases for domestic interbank and securities settlement and will continue its pilot for a potential retail CBDC, though no launch timeline has been set.

TRM Labs: Iran's crypto volumes drop 80% after Feb. 28 strikes but exchanges stay online
TRM Labs reported that trading volumes on Iranian crypto exchanges fell about 80% between Feb. 27 and March 1 following U.S. and Israeli military strikes, mainly due to internet restrictions. The firm said major domestic platforms remained operational in a risk-managed mode with suspended USDT-toman trading, thinner liquidity and withdrawal limits, and cautioned against interpreting recent flows as clear evidence of capital flight.
