Alberta and the Oil Sands Alliance have signed the Pathways Plus memorandum of understanding, setting staged carbon-capture targets of 6 million tonnes of CO₂ a year by 2035, plus 5 million tonnes in 2040 and another 5 million tonnes in 2045. The deal ties company emissions-reduction milestones to how quickly Alberta’s TIER facility benchmarks tighten, easing the annual tightening rate from 2% to 1% for companies that meet their milestones. Final implementation terms are to be set out in a definitive agreement expected to be signed later this year.

Hungary has issued a draft for its first wind-only grid connection capacity tender, with a minimum size of 1000MW and an application window running from 1–18 September 2026. The policy sets a 4GW target for new wind installations over 2026–2030 and introduces strict delivery timelines, including a 24-month deadline to connect, alongside financial security requirements. The tender is positioned as a concrete step in the EU’s eastern member states’ energy transition and is expected to act as a clear policy catalyst for energy infrastructure and equipment suppliers able to execute projects in Central and Eastern Europe, although it does not name any listed companies.
