Asian stocks climb after softer US core CPI; Kospi jumps 4.48%
US core CPI rose 0.2% month on month and 2.5% year on year, its slowest annual pace since March 2021, tempering expectations for further Federal Reserve rate hikes. Asian markets broadly advanced on Aug. 12, with the MSCI Asia Pacific Index up 0.6%. South Korea’s KOSPI surged 4.48% to lead the region, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 1.83% and the Topix rose 1.01%. Hang Seng futures bucked the trend, slipping 0.87% and signalling caution in that market.

Balrampur Chini says sugar stocks can meet demand until October or early November, no notice on ethanol diversion curbs
Balrampur Chini Mills said current sugar inventories are sufficient to meet domestic demand until October or the first week of November, and it has not received any formal government communication on restricting diversion of sugarcane juice or B-heavy molasses to ethanol. The company reported Q1FY27 revenue of ₹1,637 crore, net profit of ₹44 crore and a margin of 6.96%. Sugar prices have risen 10% over the past month, and the government is considering curbs from the season starting October to cool domestic prices, according to a Reuters article. The company put all-India production costs at around ₹42 per kg, said ethanol prices have not risen in three years while cane prices are up 16.5%, and estimated current capacity utilisation at about 85%.

NALCO jumps as much as 8% after Alunorte alumina refinery cuts output to 50%
Norsk Hydro’s Alunorte alumina refinery in Brazil cut production to 50% of capacity due to a gas shortage, tightening global alumina supply. Alumina prices are currently about 10% of aluminium prices, below the historical average of 14%–16%. NALCO surged as much as 8% intraday on Wednesday as alumina contributes 27% of its FY2026 EBIT and 44% of its FY2025 EBIT. Hindalco and Vedanta Aluminium rose about 3% as expectations of higher alumina prices boosted upstream names.

Amara Raja Q1 profit rises 15.8% to ₹191 crore; new energy revenue climbs to ₹209.30 crore
Amara Raja Energy & Mobility reported consolidated net profit of ₹191 crore for the June quarter, up 15.8% year on year. Revenue from operations rose 24% to ₹4,214.5 crore, while EBITDA increased 11.7% to ₹405.9 crore and the EBITDA margin narrowed to 9.6% from 10.7%. New energy business revenue grew to ₹209.30 crore from ₹121.29 crore. After the results, the stock fell 2.82%.

Titan flags stronger H2 FY27 on festive demand, targets 11% jewellery EBIT margin
Titan Company reported Q1 FY27 revenue of ₹18,101 crore, up 24.3% year on year, as gross margin improved to 24.2%. EBITDA rose 57.1% to ₹2,564 crore, lifting the EBITDA margin to 14.2%, while profit after tax increased 65% to ₹1,699 crore. Management said festive-season demand and a better product mix should support margins in the second half, with a jewellery EBIT margin target of 11%.

Kaynes Technology Q1 revenue rises 40% to ₹946 crore; Motilal Oswal flags 30% upside
Kaynes Technology reported June-quarter revenue of ₹946 crore, up 40% year on year and above the ₹866 crore market estimate, while EBITDA came in at ₹147.5 crore in line with expectations. Its core businesses each grew more than 30%, and smaller businesses posted growth ranging from 70% to 180%. Motilal Oswal reiterated a “buy” rating, set a ₹5,000 price target implying 30% upside, and forecast FY2026-2028 revenue, EBITDA and adjusted PAT CAGRs of 41%, 44% and 52%, respectively.
