Justin Sun, the founder of the TRON cryptocurrency, paid $140 million for BitTorrent in 2018. Following that, the BitTorrent token TRC20 was created to motivate users to maintain network bandwidth. Users who use their computers to store files and speed up the network should be rewarded with BTT coins.

The BitTorrent platform has piqued the interest of dApp developers. This is because they can profit by developing applications for it. For example, the decentralized application BitTorrent Speed, which uses BTT to increase download speed, has already been released.

BitTorrent is a token based on the TRC10 protocol, so it does not require the TVM virtual machine to function. However, BTT transmission is similar to TRX in that transactions require bandwidth.

The cost of BTT has increased by more than 3000% in the last year. As a result, the cost of BTT is $0.00083 at the time of writing in October 2022.

The total BitTorrent volume is 990 billion BTT, which will be gradually unlocked until 2028 as planned.
