IRS proposal would allow crypto exchanges like Coinbase to mandate electronic 1099-DA tax forms
The Internal Revenue Service has proposed a rule that would let crypto brokers such as Coinbase and Kraken require customers to receive Form 1099-DA tax statements electronically rather than on paper. Starting this year, these platforms must report both gross proceeds and cost basis for digital asset sales, giving the IRS more detailed information on users' gains and losses and potentially tightening compliance oversight.

Zerohash applies to OCC for national trust bank charter to expand digital asset services
Zerohash has submitted an application to the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for a national trust bank charter so it can offer a wider range of digital asset services. The proposed trust bank would focus on custody for digital assets and fiat, custodial staking, transfer agent functions, and stablecoin management rather than traditional deposit-taking or lending. If approved, the charter could place Zerohash under federal oversight and potentially make it more attractive to institutional clients.

Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana rally as 10 a.m. selloff pause eyed after Jane Street suit
Major cryptocurrencies climbed on Wednesday, adding more than $170 billion in market value and posting one of the strongest single-day rebounds in weeks. The total market cap rose roughly 8% to nearly $2.5 trillion as bitcoin briefly exceeded $70,000, with Ethereum up over 13% and Solana more than 15%. Some analysts linked the move to a pause in a "10 a.m." selloff after a Jane Street lawsuit, though no public evidence shows fixed-time sales.
