In a Thursday filing, Metaplanet outlined an offshore capital raise of up to $137 million via new common shares and stock acquisition rights. According to the filing, proceeds will fund additional Bitcoin purchases, its Bitcoin income business, and a partial repayment under an existing credit facility. Both instruments will be sold privately to overseas investors.

Sony Group Corp. has committed an additional $13 million to Startale Group via the Sony Innovation Fund, roughly one year after the Soneium blockchain's mainnet went live. Soneium has processed about 524 million transactions since its January 2025 launch, while Startale's USDSC stablecoin is now operating on the network.

Blockchain security firm SlowMist warned that attackers re-registered expired domains tied to long-standing Snap Store publishers, enabling fake wallet updates to harvest recovery seed phrases. In a post on X, its CISO 23pds said the scheme impersonates Exodus, Ledger Live and Trust Wallet, and confirmed publisher domains storewise[.]tech and vagueentertainment[.]com were compromised.

On Jan. 10, a $282 million cryptocurrency wallet compromise linked to a social engineering scam saw stolen Bitcoin bridged to Ethereum, split across wallets and funneled into Tornado Cash. Blockchain security firm CertiK reported that around $63 million was later deposited into the mixer, complicating efforts to follow the funds and recover assets.

Corporate Bitcoin investor Strategy purchased 13,627 BTC last week for $1.25 billion, marking its largest buy since July 2025 and pushing its holdings to 687,410 BTC. The coins were acquired at an average price of $91,519, funded mainly through at-the-market equity programs using MSTR common stock and STRC preferred shares.

Since Tuesday, US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $1.13 billion in outflows and Ether funds lost about $258 million, according to SoSoValue. Those reversals followed $1.17 billion of inflows on Jan. 2 and Monday, and echo the $446 million in ETP redemptions reported for the Christmas period on Dec. 29.

US spot XRP ETFs registered their first net outflow since launch, with about $40.8 million exiting on Wednesday. The reversal came alongside broader selling in crypto-linked ETFs, as Bitcoin products saw $486 million in outflows and Ether funds recorded $98 million the same day. XRP ETFs had previously amassed $1.2 billion in cumulative net inflows.

According to CryptoSlam, NFT supply grew to over 1.34 billion in 2025, up 25% from 1 billion in 2024, while sales value dropped 37% to about $5.63 billion and the average sale price declined to $96 from $124. CoinGecko data indicates market capitalization peaked near $17 billion in April 2022 and ended 2025 around $2.4 billion.

Crypto exchange-traded products posted $446 million in net outflows over Christmas week, extending a cautious pattern that has persisted since the sharp market correction on Oct. 10. Total outflows have reached $3.2 billion over that period, even as year-to-date inflows stand at $463 billion and assets under management are up only 10%. Newer XRP and Solana ETPs continued to attract capital, while Bitcoin and Ether products, particularly in the United States, faced sustained redemptions.
