Bitcoin Retail Trading Share Falls to 0.48% as Institutions Gain Ground

Bitcoin transactions between $0 and $1,000 now represent 0.48% of total trading volume, down from 1.8% in 2021, CryptoQuant analyst Axel Adler Jr. said. Daily retail trading activity stood at $108 million as of October 2025, below historical peaks of $132 million to $150 million. Transaction counts in the retail segment remain near historical averages at approximately 700,000 daily, though average transaction sizes have declined from previous cycles. The data reflect reduced retail speculation and a structural shift toward institutional participants, with smaller traders exerting less influence on market direction.
