XRP Ledger payment activity spiked between May 19 and May 22, when XRPScan data shows the count of payments between accounts rose from about 766,051 to more than 1.22 million. Over the same window, payment volume moved only from roughly 434.9 million to 486.2 million, leaving the scale of the jump under scrutiny. Separately, Ali Martinez said large XRP transactions over $1 million fell from 157 to 67 by May 23, while XRP traded in a $1.3–$1.4 range.

Large Dogecoin holders have returned to accumulation, with on-chain data showing over 525 million DOGE bought within a 96-hour period while the token trades below major technical levels. XRP stayed under pressure alongside a crypto market that fell more than 5% over the past seven days, yet several volume indicators continued to rise. Large holders accumulated 71 million XRP over seven days, XRPL payments reached 1.22 million by May 22, and XRP-linked ETFs logged over $65 million in weekly inflows last week plus $22.04 million so far this week.

Crypto analyst Chain Mind said Bitcoin may not have set its cycle bottom yet and argued the market has historically not bottomed without first reaching the EMA300. He pointed to 2020 and 2022, when BTC tagged the weekly EMA300 near the cycle low, and suggested a similar setup could imply downside toward the $58,000 area. He argues the move reflects capitulation and suggests a potential drop toward $55,000, with $50,000 also "on the table." Bitcoin was last quoted around $77,500 over the past 24 hours.

The U.S.-Iran war is nearing the three-month mark with no deal in place, while President Donald Trump has warned a new U.S. attack on Iran could occur in the coming days. Iran has also launched a Bitcoin-backed shipping insurance product, as oil stays above $100 per barrel and Bitcoin trades around $77,000.

CME Group and Nasdaq plan to roll out the Nasdaq CME Crypto Index Futures on June 8, with XRP included in the index basket. The cash-settled, market-cap-weighted contract is designed to provide institutional investors regulated exposure to multiple digital assets through a single futures product.
