What is Velodrome Finance?

Velodrome Finance is a decentralized exchange (DEX) built on the Optimism Layer 2 network. Launched in June 2022, Velodrome aims to enhance liquidity provision and reduce slippage using an Automated Market Maker (AMM) model inspired by other successful protocols like Curve Finance and Olympus DAO. The platform introduces two primary types of liquidity pools: Stable Pools for low-volatility assets and Variable Pools for more volatile tokens, allowing users to choose based on their risk tolerance. Velodrome’s governance and reward system revolves around its native token, VELO, which can be locked to obtain veVELO, a governance token that gives users voting power and access to rewards such as transaction fees and bribes.
