Value and Role of 0x Protocol $ZRX

0x Protocol is a protocol on Ethereum that holds two major roles and values:

  1. 1. Solving the DEX order book problem.

  2. 2. 0x adopts Relayer technology structure, allowing traditional stocks, real estate, and more to be traded on Dex.

The order book problem in Dex involves traditional Dexes requiring certification for each transaction on-chain, resulting in slower transaction speeds and requiring Gas Fees regardless of the transaction's success. Therefore, for tokens with high short-term trading volumes, Dex's speed becomes notably slow.

CEX uses a matching method, also known as the order book, which significantly speeds up transactions and avoids the issue of paying fees for unsuccessful token purchases.

For Dex to thrive, it needs to address two problems: transaction speed and cost. 0x was initially founded in 2016 to solve the Dex order book problem. In simple terms, it involves off-chain matching and on-chain synchronization. Off-chain integrates the Order Book functionality, matches transactions, then packs the data onto the chain. This drastically speeds up Dex.

0x enables Dex to achieve the order book primarily based on its Relayer framework. The role of Relayer is to match orders and then place transaction data on the chain. Relayer doesn't act as a "market maker" or "taker." It's because of Relayer that assets like stocks and real estate can be traded this way.

ZRX token is the token of the 0x protocol, mainly used for voting and paying fees when using Relayer. Currently, Relayer remains free, which is why investors see potential value in the token.
