India’s Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) fined Zee Entertainment Ltd (ZEEL) and its promoters Subhash Chandra and Punit Goenka a combined ₹1.5 crore and barred them from the securities market for one year over fund diversion. U.S. appeals court lets Ohio require parental consent for under-16 social media accounts
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit upheld Ohio’s Social Media Parental Notification Act, allowing the state to require mandatory age verification and parental consent for users under 16 on platforms such as Instagram and YouTube. The law took effect in January 2024 but had been halted by a federal district court. The panel said the measure does not violate the First Amendment and is narrowly tailored to protect children. Meta and Google, among the operators explicitly implicated, face substantial compliance burdens and potential pressure on user activity.

Meta presses Congress to add liability shield from child-harm lawsuits to KOSA
Meta is lobbying the U.S. Congress to insert a legal immunity provision into the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) that would limit state-law child-harm claims tied to products such as Instagram. If enacted, the language could protect Meta and other platforms such as YouTube from existing and future suits, though Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s office said it had not seen the text and would not consider it. KOSA passed the Senate by a 91-3 vote in 2024 but stalled in the House, and it has been reintroduced this year.
