DeFi protocol Stream Finance has halted all withdrawals and deposits following a $93 million asset loss reported by an external fund manager on Monday. The platform has engaged law firm Perkins Coie LLP to investigate the incident. Its stablecoin xUSD has depegged to $0.53.

Trading volume on decentralized exchanges reached an all-time high of $613.3 billion in October, up from approximately $500 billion in September, data show. The surge coincided with heightened market volatility, including bitcoin's drop to around $104,600 on Oct. 17.

JPYC Inc. launched Japan's first legally recognized yen-backed stablecoin on Monday, operating on Ethereum, Avalanche, and Polygon with full reserve backing. The firm aims to reach 10 trillion yen ($65.4 billion) in circulation within three years. JPYC has partnered with Densan System, Asteria, and HashPort for service integration.
