Raw sugar futures have climbed sharply since summer, with the March 2027 contract settling at 20.85 cents per pound. Prices rose 21.5% in August alone, the largest monthly gain since October 2010. Poor weather and weaker production forecasts in several major growing regions drove the rally. Candy prices at retail have also moved higher, gaining nearly 80% over the past five years.
