Joby Aviation says it completed a 3,199-mile fully autonomous flight from California to North Carolina
Joby Aviation said it has completed what it described as the first fully autonomous flight across the United States, flying 3,199 miles from California to North Carolina. The company retrofitted a Cessna Caravan with its autonomous flight system and said the trip required no human control inputs. A safety pilot was onboard but did not intervene, while ground teams monitored the aircraft remotely. The aircraft is set to head back west with planned stops including Raleigh, NC, Salt Lake City and Portland, Ore.
