Trump-appointed OCC chief grants preliminary approval to World Liberty Financial’s federal bank charter bid
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has granted preliminary approval to World Liberty Financial’s application for a federal bank charter. The company’s website says WLF is 38% owned by an entity affiliated with Donald J. Trump and certain of his family members. The OCC is led by Jonathan Gould, who was chosen by President Donald Trump. Last year, Trump earned about $527 million in proceeds from WLF token sales.
